Mrs. Sydney Badmington wanted to restrict development, preserve open space and protect the Little Lake Sunapee watershed. This conservation easement ensures the 8.8 acres will remain a one-house lot. Without these protections, this land could have several dwellings built on it. Mrs. Badmington explained, "I didn't think it was big enough to count very much, but when I think of all the property around the lake that has been built on, then I had to do it."
This property is located on the easterly side of Little Sunapee Road and is in close proximity to the Town-owned Bucklin Beach. It is within the Little Lake Sunapee watershed with a mixture of open fields, forestland and wetlands. The property's vegetation is important to the water quality of Little Lake Sunapee by filtering water run-off from storms.
Mrs. Badmington passed away in October 2009 and the property has been transferred to her family.
