Roger Hersey, an Ausbon Sargent easement donor, died May 12, 2013 at age 64. The Hersey Farm in East Andover, NH, which had been purchased by his grandparents in 1904, was one of Roger’s special places.
Nancy Chase Lyon (1947 – 2011) passed away on October 25th, 2011, after a brief, but aggressive illness. So many people, representing so many genres throughout the state of NH and beyond, feel a great loss at Nancy’s passing. In 1996 Nancy joined the Ausbon Sargent Land Preservation Trust, offering her voluntary services as a graphic designer.
Donald M. Sisson died Monday, May 3, 2010 at the age of 85. Ausbon Sargent’s Executive Director, Debbie Stanley, wrote the following remembrance, “Don Sisson was one of the original five founders of Ausbon Sargent who signed and filed the Articles of Agreement on September 25, 1987. He was our first treasurer and served for seven years.
Sydney Lomax Crook, who gifted Clark Lookout to the Town of New London, died at the age of 91 on April 25, 2010. He was born in the Crook family home on Lake Sunapee, New London contributing to his love of both the lake and the New London area. Syd was active in a number of organizations in New London and Sunapee.
Thad Johnson and his wife, Virginia, donated a 92-acre conservation easement on their property in Sutton Mills to Ausbon Sargent in August, 2008. Thad died just over a year later, on November 25, 2009.
Sydney Rollins Badmington died on Oct. 2, 2009 at the age of 88. In March of 2003, she donated a conservation easement to Ausbon Sargent on her 8.87 acres on Little Sunapee Road in New London. Syd wanted to restrict development, preserve open space and protect the Little Lake Sunapee watershed.
