Donald J. Gross, of Kearsarge Mountain Road and a landowner of a large Ausbon Sargent protected property just off of Rt. 11 in Andover, died on January 7, 2016 at the age of 65.  Don graduated from New London High School, the Claremont VoTech and later, went to FBI training in Quantico, VA.  He was a 32-year veteran of the Nashua Police Department, retiring in 2004 as Chief.  In 2004, Don and his wife, Karen, moved from their home in Merrimack to their home on Kearsarge Mountain Road, located near family and the 100.50-acre property in Andover that was co-owned by Don and his four siblings (Donna, Russell, Richard and Ray).  The Gross family partnered with Ausbon Sargent in 2009 to place an easement on their Andover property.  Located on the north side of Rt 11, this property is a gateway property to Andover and was well known by travelers along Rt 11 for the Gross Family Farmstand along the roadside on the property.  The land is managed for forestry and is a certified tree farm.  Don’s philanthropy was recognized in his many diverse interests serving the Town of Andover, the Nashua Police Department, many state affiliations, even playing Santa at the NH Motor Speedway.  In August of 2013, the Gross family transferred their easement property to Christopher Walton and Elizabeth Parent.
