Dallas R. Patten

Dallas R. Patten

Dallas R. Patten of Springfield died on Monday, January 29, 2018.  Dallas’ life work was farming.  He and his brother first operated a dairy farm until 2009 when they sold the herd, but they have continued to the present to raise beef cattle and farm for hay production.  In June of 2013, the Patten family placed an easement, held by Ausbon Sargent, on their 46.60-acre property.  This beautiful farmland contains prime agricultural soils and includes a mix of fields and forests.  NH Fish and Game listed the Patten property as a target for conservation to help protect the water quality of McDaniels Marsh.  Residents of Springfield and the many travelers past the property will think of Dallas as they drive by the scenic views overlooking the Patten farm on George Hill Road.

Dallas' brother, Malcolm, who also spent his life farming as part of the Patten family, and was instrumental in this easement, passed away on August 11, 2022.
