Ausbon Sargent is collaborating with the Kawasiwajo Community Land Trust out of Warner, raising funds to purchase “Foster Farm” in the foothills of the Mink Hills. Here are some details:
In 2020, a forward-thinking individual purchased the 70-acre Foster Farm property with the intention of selling it to Kawasiwajo Community Land Trust (KCLT) for just 25% of its appraised value, to revitalize and manage it. KCLT is raising funds to meet a December 31, 2025 deadline, to be able to purchase this important property.
—> The farmhouse is being updated and converted into affordable housing – a serious need in our area
—> ASLPT will partner with KCLT to place 65 acres of the property under easement to protect a large wildlife corridor, and ensure working forests and farmland for generations to come.
—> This property is located on what was traditionally Abenaki territory. A cultural easement will provide access to the land for natural, spiritual and cultural resources.
—> This is an ideal location and set-up for a farmer or farming family to steward and revitalize the property.
“The success of this campaign will provide KCLT with the financial stability and tools to find additional mission-driven ways to serve the community through housing and land access i the Kearsarge region. Together, we can create a model for community-led land stewardship, affordable housing, and ecological conservation.” – Ellie Brown, KCLT President
